Waste Reduction
We prioritise the environment by minimising single use plastic. By eliminating PET bottles and plastic straws and implementing glass and aluminium alternatives, we’ve reduced plastic waste by 70% in the Maldives.
We conduct solid waste assessments and upcycle projects, reducing food waste through comprehensive action plans, policies, and machinery such as food digesters, incinerators, and glass crushers.
Energy
In order to cut down on the amount of power that is consumed by the garden lights at Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives, we have installed timers and light emitting sensors, resulting in major energy savings.
A programme to clean up the Resort beach, the reef, and the entire island was launched in September of 2023, staff and guests came together to create a cleaner, safer environment for everyone.
Contributing to the nationwide 5 Million Trees Project and in celebration of World Environment Day 2024, 400+ trees were planted on the island in collaboration with the Maldives Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy.
Social Impact
We held a Blood Donation Campaign to thank the community and fulfil the promise of “I will care.” Planned in consultation with Maldivian Blood Services, 35 Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives Associates and volunteers donated blood.
Employee Wellbeing
In collaboration with Eye Care Maldives Hospital, the eye care camp we organised provided comprehensive eye care for all our associates, including consultations, checkups and many more.
