We partnered with local artisans and entrepreneurs to promote their handmade products, ranging from bags, toys, jewellery, hats and pouches, to wooden crafts and wood art crafted from wood chips and dried wood shavings. This collaborative effort not only celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the community but also empowers local artisans to thrive in their craft.
Energy Saving
We use Building Management Software (BMS) to optimise centralised chillers based on ambient temperature, thereby reducing energy consumption. Furthermore, solar panels supplement the grid's energy supply, harnessing renewable energy sources to power our operations sustainably. Moreover, the use of magnetic bearing compressors in chillers maximises energy efficiency, further minimising our carbon footprint.
Employee Wellbeing
We prioritise impactful initiatives for nurturing a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. From ‘EmpowHer’, a forum dedicated to empowering all female colleagues, providing them with a platform to voice their ideas, concerns, and aspirations, to our town hall meetings which offer opportunities for open communication and transparency. We also recognise and reward our colleagues through awards programmes.

Waste Reduction
We've implemented a waste system ensuring glass, metals, paper, non recyclables, and hazardous waste are sorted. Every Friday, ‘No Bin Day’, raises awareness about food waste and promotes sustainable habits.
Water Bottling Plant
Cinnamon Bentota Beach has installed an inhouse NORDAQ water bottling plant, reducing our carbon footprint and moving closer to eliminating single use guest facing plastics by 2030. Our bottles use 80% recycled glass with 100% recycled aluminum caps.
