ESG
Caring for the wilderness bordering Yala National Park, where we are located, we recognise the importance of sustainable practices in preserving biodiversity in our natural habitat. That's why our efforts are consciously designed to deliver a long term, positive impact.
Community Projects
Community and Environmental Impact
With clean up initiatives in Tissamaharama, we have been able to strengthen community bonds with projects to empower local residents, particularly women, enabling sustainable development and social equity.
Biodiversity
Cattle Protection Fences
We have donated 50 steel pens to cattle farmers who rely on cattle for milk production. These pens provide a safe grazing environment, protecting the cattle from predators like leopards. This effort won the distinguished Davis Award for Peace in 2023, at the University of Clark – USA. This project is supervised and deployed by the Cinnamon Nature Trails naturalists at Cinnamon Wild, Yala.
Energy
Clean Energy
Going on the path towards good, clean energy, we focus on reducing our carbon footprint through energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources. This is reflected in our efforts to replace traditional lighting with LED bulbs, installing energy efficient air conditioners, and maximising natural lighting and ventilation. Our ISO certifications and the Travelife Gold Certification bears testimony to the commitment we lend.
Water
Responsible Consumption
We have invested in technology to enhance water efficiency and promote responsible consumption. Through water based initiatives which include recycling, harvesting, and conservation, we aim to reduce water consumption per guest night while safeguarding the water bodies surrounding our resorts. We rigorously test treated wastewater and engage with guests and colleagues to promote water saving practices, ensuring a sustainable future for all.
Employee Wellbeing
We are deeply committed to gender empowerment through initiatives like EmpowHer. This programme addresses gender-specific challenges, with a target of achieving a female workforce representation of 24% or higher by 2025. It also aims to inspire women to pursue non traditional roles in the hospitality sector, thus becoming role models for future generations.
