Collaborations with the Turtle Hatchery
Alongside the Sri Lanka Navy Coast Guard Unit and the Sri Lanka Police Life Saving Unit, our team actively participates in turtle egg collection and hatchling releases. We also provide essential facilities to improve the Hatchery's operations.

Hikka Batiks Programme
In partnership with the John Keells Foundation, the Hikka Batiks programme was launched in 2021. This initiative elevates the local batik industry by providing comprehensive training and market support to our women artisans.

Hikka Eve Cultural Show
In an effort to blend tourism with local arts and culture, we organise a weekly cultural show known as ‘Hikka Eve’ during the peak tourist months, collaborating with the Urban Council Auditorium in Hikkaduwa. This event showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region, and supports local artisans and small scale businesses.

Nurturing Little Lives For The Future
The objective of this project is to identify the nutritional requirement of the selected pre-school children and support them to overcome their nutritional deficiencies with a nutritional food program. Two sessions of health camp were held covering the five preschools on 4th and 8th October 2024. More than 170 preschool kids were covered.
The health camps were organized with the support and presence of the Medical Officer of Health, Hikkaduwa and other MoH office staff, area Public Health Inspectors, Urban Council staff, Hikkaduwa, preschool teachers, and Parents at preschool premises. Nutritional indicators such as height and body weight of kids were measured, and every kid was physically checked by medical professionals during the health camp.
Waste Reduction
Mawakada Canal Cleaning Programme
The Mawakada canal serves as a vital artery to the ocean but also carries tons of plastics to the ocean. With the John Keells Foundation and MAS Foundation for Change, we installed an ocean strainer to intercept them before they reach the Hikkaduwa beach.
Waste Reduction
Beach clean ups and tree planting
Our staff takes proactive measures to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the surrounding beach through regular beach cleaning programmes. We extend our efforts by planting Mangroves along the Mawakada canal bed and other areas, contributing to the conservation of natural habitats and biodiversity.
Waste reduction
Introduction of reusable water bottles
As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing single use plastics, we've introduced aluminum water bottles to our staff, eliminating the need for PET bottles.
